| Mini Zoo in Battaramulla for CHOGM 2013 |
Ministry of Botanical Gardens and Recreation is planning to open a mini zoo in Battaramulla in line with upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in November 2013.
The mini zoo which covers an extent of 3.5 acres will be established close to the Folk Arts Centre in Battaramulla. The estimated cost of the construction is Rs 10 million. In addition, a model Sri Lankan village depicting the Sri Lankan culture and identity will also be set up in the Folk Arts Centre premises. A cultural centre and Laksala centre will also be established in this premises to boost tourism.
The zoo will be opened for public after the CHOGM.
