Parliamentarians from Asian, African and Middle Eastern nations will meet in Wadduwa,Sri Lanka to discuss ways to fight climate change by promoting renewable energy.
The three-day meeting between November 16 to 18, to be held in Wadduwa,Sri Lanka will focus on regional electricity trading and the potential of sustainable investment for cutting carbon emissions,fighting poverty and driving economic growth in South Asia and across the world.

“As we surely know when living in Asia climate change is a real threat”UNDP Asia-Pacific Regional Centre Regional Technical Specialist Butchaiah Gadde Said. 
“One of the solutions for climate change is to invest in energy access projects combined with productive and income generating uses where renewable energy is part of the solution,” Butchaiah Gadde added.

“In Sri Lanka, we have witnessed three monsoons and heavy droughts. Our reservoirs have been empty and then there were unexpected rainfalls. From the Sri Lankan side, we have to tackle this issue.” The Executive Director of the Sri Lanka Energy Forum and an Adviser to the Minister of Power & Energy Asoka Abeygunawardana Said
