Sri Lanka has lowest maternal mortality in South Asia
A survey has identified Sri Lanka as a country with one of the lowest maternal deaths  among the South Asian countries.

This survey was carried out at National and Provincial Levels and the survey has been presented to the Ministry of Health Maithripala Sirisena.
Following analysis of the survey and statistics from other countries, it has been revealed that Sri Lanka has the lowest maternal death rate in South Asia.


Currently the maternal death ratio in Sri Lanka stands at 37 maternal deaths for every 100 thousand live child births and this is considered the lowest maternal death ratio in South Asia.
