Norochcholai Power Plant resumes operations
Sri Lanka's Lakvijaya Coal Power Plant in Norochcholai has resumed its activities after a brief shut down Tuesday due to a technical failure.

The Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) W.B. Ganegala said the activities of the power plant have been fully resumed since last night and the plant has begun power generation in full capacity.

The plant was closed for 40 days for annual maintenance and other repair work since August 21.
The CEB Chairman said 95 percent of work in the second stage construction of the power station has been completed and it is expected to be operational by December.

The Chairman said the third phase of the construction to increase the power generation further will be completed by early next year.
When the project funded by China is completed the plant will add 900 MW of electricity to the national grid.
