HSBC Colombo Fashion Week (HSBC CFW) the backbone of Sri Lanka’s fashion design industry celebrates its 11th year; this year they will concentrate on further developing young designers by creating CFW days at universities, an initiative which started in December 2013, which leads them into the Bright Spark Shows during CFW. Other areas of focus include creating new retail formats to develop fashion retail and will work closely with National Crafts Council in creating a program called Crafts in Fashion.

The focus on above three areas will further the cause of developing fashion in Sri Lanka, which has been the singular objective behind the existence of Colombo Fashion Week. HSBC CFW in the last decade has groomed, mentored, exposed Sri Lankan designers and given them a platform to showcase their designs to be recognized in Sri Lanka and overseas. This vision to put Sri Lanka on international fashion map drives CFW and its management.

“By god’s grace, every year we get closer to our dream of creating a dynamic fashion industry in Sri Lanka which is recognized internationally. While staying true to our objective we add new aspects, which will enhance the industry like this year’s Bright Spark shows, the Online Retail program with Wow.lk and Crafts in fashion. Our aim every year is to think of innovative ways of include the prospect of fashion design in Sri Lanka and to nurture new talent in the local design industry” said, Ajai V Singh, President & Director Colombo Fashion Week

This year the fashion week will extend for the entire week starting with Bright Spark shows from 3rd to 5th, main shows from 6th to 8th of February. There will be the introduction of the fashion online format which CFW has tied with wow.lk and Crafts in Fashion program with National Crafts Council.

HSBC has been instrumental in its partnership with CFW to encourage and promote the fashion industry. Patrick Gallagher CEO HSBC, Sri Lanka and Maldives said “Throughout our 7 year strategic partnership with CFW, we have seen how a simple fashion show has evolved into a multi-faceted event, promising designers as well as all other partners something bigger every year. We are extremely happy about the progress made thus far. We hope the event will continue to propel the fashion industry to even greater heights and experiment newer and innovative fashion concepts for local and international audiences.”

There will be nine local designers showing in the Bright Spark category and 30 designers in the main category. There will be 15 models from overseas and 30 from Sri Lanka, which will also include participants from the Supermodel Sri Lanka

Fashion TV will come in as an international media partner. Hilton will be the venue once again who have mastered the art of hosting CFW and will be showcasing a celebrity chef. Hilton along with Wineworld will also have international mixologist to add flavour to the menus.

Brandix will provide inspiration through new techniques of creating fashion pieces and a design center. Land Rover is the official fashion automobile for CFW. Dialog will be coming in as the technology partner creating dynamic environment for designers to excel in. Dialog, which, was recently appointed as the iPhone provider in Sri Lanka will also be the official mobile phone provider of HSBC CFW.

Odel is the official fashion retail advisor of CFW. Vision Care will be the official eyewear partner; Ramani Fernando Salons are the official hair and make-up partner; CJS (Colombo Jewellery Stores) is the official fashion jewellery designer of HSBC CFW. Hameedias, Wineworld and The British Council are also official partners of CFW.

The Bright Spark shows are 3, 4, 5 February from 4:00pm to 5.30pm, the main shows are on the 6, 7 and 8 February, 2014.
