The Sri Lanka National Human Development Report 2014 on Youth and Development will be launched on August 12, 2014, in line with the International Youth Day, the UNDP announced.
The Report explores the challenges of young people and opportunities for development, in the areas of education, employment, health, political participation and social integration, with gender as a cross-cutting theme.
NHDR 2014 is expected to be a key policy tool providing a new platform for policy development and reform in youth and development.

The Report is expected to serve as a strong advocacy tool for promoting youth empowerment and human development in Sri Lanka.
Addressing national and global development challenges would inevitably entail providing youth with the support they need to contribute to the well-being of society, the UNDP says.
A youth-focused NHDR would help identify, through current data and analysis, the priority areas of support for youth as well as the most effective means of providing such support.
