The United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) secured the power of the Uva Provincial Council for the next four years with a majority of four seats.
Accordingly, the UPFA had secured 19seats including two bonus seats in the Provincial Council while the UNP secured 13 seats and the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) won two seats.
The UPFA obtained 349906 votes from the two districts while the UVP received 274773 votes. The total number of votes achieved by the JVP stands at 35585.
The UNP managed to win the District of Badulla with a majority of 11348 votes.
The UNP received 54% of the total votes casted in the Badulla Division while the UPFA managed just 38.40%.
