Sri Lanka`s  first hybrid power plant
Sri Lanka today opened first hybrid power plant in Eluvathivu Island, Jaffna with a capacity of 60 KW that will generate electricity using wind, solar and diesel. Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya inaugurated the plant in Eluvathivu Island. 

The project is aimed at promoting green energy. the Asian Development Bank and the Ceylon Electricity Board financed the project at a cost of Rs. 187 million. The plant is located on a small island off the Jaffna district with a population of 787 people belonging to 190 families.
