China to Launch Satellite for Sri Lanka
The much awaited Sri Lanka’s inaugural and the regions first communication satellite launch would take place next Thursday(November 22) from Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in Beijing China at 3 30 p.m. Sri Lankan time. The Supreme Group is a fast growing Sri Lankan home grown company with a special focus on Sri Lanka and regional satellite communication opportunities. They have already invested US $ 100 million.
Within seven minutes of the launch, it will be stationed in the space above Sri Lanka.
Under the 360 million dollar project, a satellite station will be built in Kandy in collaboration with China Great Wall Industry Corporation.Sri Lanka is the third country in the region after India and Pakistan n to own a satellite while Supreme Group Sri Lanka is the 15th private company in the world to own a communication satellite.
The Sr Lankan flag would also be displayed in this satellite.
