Tourist arrivals up in January 2014

Sri Lanka’s tourist arrivals jumped by 32.6% in January 2014 compared to the same period in 2013, according to the figures released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.

January recorded 146 thousand 575 tourists arriving in the country compared to the 110 thousand 543 arrived in January 2013.
Arrivals from North America rose by 22.4 percent with 6,909 visitors for the month of January.
Tourist arrivals from the US increased by 31.5 percent in January while 12.7 percent more tourists arrived from Canada.
